Intro

Naiv, a colleague of Gundrun Rockseeker, is hired to help transport provisions out of Neverwinter to Phandalin. This trip should only be a couple days south down the The High Road. Gundrun is being very secretive about the details of this trip. Along with Naiv, all other members of the party are hired to help the transport.

The High Road South

On trail for about 1/2 day. Nearing side road leading south towards Phandalin. Triboar Trail. Trail begins to narrow and the party comes across a recent battle scene. The woods are pressed close to the trail. Two horses sniffing at ransacked bags, etc.

  • Arrows, odds and ends. Sattlebags have been loot. Empty map case. Four goblins appear. They are apart of the Cragmaw Goblin crew. Easily defeat all of them. One surrendered—Tom Finkle. We take Finkle as our prisoner as we make our delivery to Barthen’s. Party is paid for the delivery.

Strongly persuade Finkle to join us.

Party returns to the scene of the battle. Learn that the horses belong to Rockseeker and Hallwinter. Party finds drag marks of two bodies off into the woods along a secret trail. The party follows the trail to a Cave enterence.

The Cragmaw Cave

As the party and Tom Finkle approach the cave, there is a shallow river running out fo the cave. Upon investigation, the party sees there is a lookout post with more goblins. Upon listening to the goblins the party hears, “Now if the berries are too tart, add a bit of confectioners sugar,” from one of the goblins.

Entering the Cave

To the right there is a dank chamber with three chained wolves, and a a steep fischer. There are steep, uneven stone steps leading down into the chamber. The wolves are chained to iron rods in the stalagmites.

The cave is complete darkness past the first twenty or so feet. The terrain becomes more rubble-like and difficult.

As the party explores, they notice they can go west up an embankment, small hill, climb up rocks along some of the walls, and ahead, there is a rope bridge, 20ft above with a goblin pacing.

Up the Hill

The party attempts to go up the hill where they encounter a snake. Captain Whitebeard kills the snake.

The Chamber at the top of the Hill

The party continues up the small hill to find a chamber. There are:

  • Four Goblins
  • Two Bosses
  • Hallwinter tied up along a wall.
  • Ten foot wall with goblins on them

The Battle

  • Youssef does big wounds the first boss
  • Mike moves in, kills a goblin, sets Sildar free. Need to finish the rest
  • Liam goes to throw spear at the boss, but misses. Spear is next to the boss on the floor.
  • Ben kills the goblin boss
  • Finkle does 4 damage to regular goblin
  • Finkle down to 4
  • Liam kills hurt goblin
  • Youssef takes out the injured
  • Liam tries to break out Sildar. Fails
  • Finkle does 4 damage to goblin
  • Youssef blasts the boss for 7
  • Mike has 3rd save, stable with one hit point.
  • Liam tries the lock again and fails.
  • Ben kills the regular goblin
  • Finkle kills goblin
  • Boss 7, Liam kills

Rescuing Sildar
